CoachThem - Draw Drills, Plan Practices, Share!
Over the past couple of months, Rachel and I have had several coaches ask us which platform we were using to draw our drills and system explanations that have been presented in TIHCN.
We have been using CoachThem for over three years, and it has delivered an easy, affordable, and seamless way to plan and communicate.
Over the years, we have used different digital drill drawing software, but CoachThem stood out to us because it has all of the functionality that we need to deliver our daily practice planning, system pack building, and sharing between staff members.
World Wide Reach
One of the exciting projects that we have been able to undertake through the CoachThem platform is to be able to share our materials in real time with coaches in Europe, UK, Japan, and the United States!
We trade drills, practice plans, and ideas. CoachThem has increased our ability to connect with other coaches and our mentors all over the world in a way that we could not in the past.
No More Binders!
When I first started looking into drill drawing software, I remember feeling overwhelmed with the thought of transferring all of my drills into digital format. (Between Rachel and myself, there were binders full of them).
However, I took things slow and drew each drill as needed. This took the pressure off having the feeling that I had to add all of my drills in a short period.
For most of us coaches, this can be a big task! Take your time adding your drills, and reach out to other coaches to share and trade drills!
If you want to transfer drills, CoachThem offers a service to bring your existing drills into your CoachThem account. Whether you’ve built a library on paper, in PDFs, or another platform, we’ll help you move your go-to drills so you can keep coaching without missing a beat. Drill #1
2 Puck Zone - NZ Agility/Attack
FWD/BWD Pivots.
Start by pivot around cone, touch pass with C as X pivots FWD and BWD.
X keeps puck on inside ice and bump passes up and around to wide ice - drives inside dot lane for the shot.
C spots 2nd puck off half wall toward goal line.
X releases net front to collect puck cuts back toward goal line, and executes goal line drive play at the net with a shot.

Drill #2
2 vs 0 Entry Shot Wall Rim BGL
F1 makes pass to F2 on entry who returns to F1 on slip pass (change entry tactic as needed)
F1 stop at net on shot
Coach in corner then rims puck to weak side wall for F2 retrieval
F2 picks up puck off of the wall while protecting from coach pressure and gets off the wall
F2 now cycles puck back down the wall where F1 releases and picks up the rim
F1 gets off the wall while F2 cycles into soft spot and gets return pass from F1 for quick shot
* Alternative sequence: F1 moves puck to weakside coach for pass to F2, where F2 would have to adjust their angle and positioning
